Pamela Reynolds

glimpse from a passing car

Pamela Reynolds' paintings are deeply entrenched in the abstract expressionist tradition. Her quest is to use spontaneous gesture as a way of accessing intuitive truths about the nature of our world and ourselves. She considers her work to be organic and inspired principally by the natural elements --- the feel and look of a rough stone, the rhythm and cadence of music, the play of sun through the trees, the fluidity and movement of water. She normally works in series exploring these themes, and groups often differ dramatically in tone and style. Each series, however, consistently demonstrates her interest in memory, change and the effect of chance events.

Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Born in Los Angeles, Ms. Reynolds divides her time between Boston and Italy. She studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Sassari, Italy. Her work is in cluded in numerous private collections in Europe and the United States, as well as in the collections of Harvard University's Harvard Management Company and the University of Virginia. Several of her paintings graced the rooms at the 2008 Boston Design Center's Dream House and several others will be featured in the upcoming film “Zookeeper” starring Rosario Dawson and Kevin James.
